From Muyiwa Adeyemi, Ado Ekiti A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and former Senatorial aspirant, Mr Segun Osinkolu has vowed that the Southwest caucus of the party would resist any attempt to bring down the party’s National Leader, Senator Ahmed Bola Tinubu in the party’s decision-making process.
Osinkolu described as “very unfortunate and disturbing”, the supremacy battle in the National Assembly, culminating in the election of Senator Bukola Saraki as the President of the Senate and Yakubu Dogara as the Speaker, House of Representatives.
Osinkolu said it was a gross political miscalculation and misdirected act of vengeance, for some bigwigs in the party to see the battle as an opportunity to decimate Tinubu, even at the expense of the party, when the National leader was only protecting the sanctity of the party’s supremacy.
In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Friday, Osinkolu advised the Southwest caucus of the party to refrain from being used against Tinubu, the party’s undisputable leader and benefactor, just for some people outside the zone to achieve their egocentric motives.
Osinkolu expressed confidence in the ability of Chief John Odigie-Oyegun –led National Working Committee to bring the situation under control, to foster cohesion and unity of purpose.
Osinkolu, however, appealed to the party’s leaders to reign on those who thought they could undermine the party and demonize perceived opponents, for them to actualize their personal ambitions, so that the acceptability currently being enjoyed by the party would continue to blossom .
